I have a 2405 Dell and I'll be connecting my Macbook to it using VGA. Is the quality decent?

Yes, verging on DVI quality.

yeah it's not bad. It's possible to notice a difference between VGA and DVI (due to screen size largely) but the VGA quality is still very good
