Hi All

Atm I have a 2405. And have been looking at the 3007FWP but have decided that even though I have SLI'd GTX's I think the rez on the 3007 will push my system.

I am soon to own a Sammy LE40R51B as my main TV. And I was also looking at the 26" and the 32" versions as maybe a monitor upgrade from the 2405.

So my question is if I did get either of these the 26" / 32" for my pc would it be able to fill the shoes of the 2405? and also with the rez being 1366 by 768 even if I did get the 32" version it would not put as much strain on my GFX cards as the 3007's rez would is this right?

And also with this rez going from 1920 by 1200 are we talking a massive lose of desktop space or is it something I could get used to?

Thanks for any help

Of course you are talking a massive drop in desktop space, the figures are all right there. One thing to check would be response time of the replacement screen, will it be quick enough for what you use it for. It'lll definitely put less of a strain on your gfx though, but with dual gtx you shouldn't be having much of a problem anyway.

Plus you most likely find your 7800gtx don't support 1366x768..other people have already found that one out...

(It's because 1366x768 is not a standard PC res)

How about instead of upgrading the 2405..Just buy another 2405 to run daul monitors so you have 48" of screen to look at..

I've just tried adding custom resolutions to my PC (6800GT+5200FX) and although 1366x768 was invalid, it accepted 1360x768...run in 1:1 that'll just be 3 pixels each side of the screen, but if you run in a lower resolution you'll obviously want to change the output mode unless you want it in a small box on the screen.

Two 2405's may have a diagonals sum of 48", but it'll only have 1/2 the area of a 48" screen. It doesn't sound like XD-3 wants dualscreens though, it sounds like he wants to pawn the 2405 to 'upgrade'.

But will LCD tvs have any problem displaying the 1360x748...I seen posts before were some monitors will not display a res they don't support..

yo mate, when your next online drop me a buzz, ill get rid of your 2405 for you :p

Not sure what you are saying about 1366*768 not being available, but I KNOW I had this available as default when I had my Sammy connected to a 7800GT

Not sure if this was a driver thing or whatever - but I definitely was using 26R41BDX with a GT at that resolution, and playing Serious Sam 2 looked fabulous

Drivers should be including this as a usable resolution as its a common choice people are making now, and I would NOT try and use other resolutions ona TFT, its always best to use as close as possible to its natural res as you possibly can, and I can assure you it definitely IS possible.

Hi all I have just got back from being away a few days and checked this thread thanks for all your helpful words.

So it looks like for desktop I am looking at a great lose but for gaming if I can get the rez to work im looking at really good quality?

Also the Sammy has a response time of 12ms black to black and 8ms gray to grey so just a little bit faster then the 2405

Thanks

I have no idea what the practical responce rate is ( Sammy may well be a little overdoing it with their figures) but its a wonderful gaming monitor
