2405 (A04) Vs 2407 (A04)

Hi all,

Could someone run through the differences between the two, if any?

Cheers,

Thanks jokester - Would a second hand 2305 be worth £325 even if HDCP isn't supported? I read that you could get an exta hardare bit to enable HDCP anyway.....Thoughts as fast as humanly possible please!!

Thanks baddass - Still not sure at all - It's all abot bank for buck for me. What would you do? DO you think the above price for the model, rev etc is fair - Should I go for it...or fork out a bit more for the 2047 A04????

£325 is a bargain price for the 2405FPW tbh. I guess as long as it's not defective in any way, no backlight issues, no dead pixels etc, than it would be a good choice. I don't think there's enough changes in the 2407WFP to make it worth so much more personally.

Design has changed - all down to taste anyway, only the stand really looks much difference, nothing wrong with the 2405FPW design imo

HDCP - questionable whether it's even relevant now given the roll out of HDCP protection, and whether it will even come into practice. if it does, it's likely to be a fair few years away apparently

Response time - some improvement, but this really depends if you're a heavy gamer or not. If you are, there are prob better LCD's for gaming than these models anyway, the 2405FPW is still highly regarded in this respect by many users :)

then you have a few issues with regards to hD content playback on the 2407WFP model including the lack of 1080i/p support over DVI for instance.

I dont think it's worth considering a 2407WFP for much more money just for the sake of getting the latest model if you see what i mean

Thank you Baddass - It's all totally up in the air. There is slight damage to the 2505, but it is hardly noticable apparently - Still makes me wary though.

The situation is this: Either -
i)A 2nd Hand 2405 (A04) with slight damage and 2yrs warrenty left - £325
OR
ii)Brand new 2407 (A04) - £460

I am now leaning away from the 2405 and toward the 2407 - Would you do the same baddass? I think i just need someone to tell me to stopp faffing and the extra £135 will be worth it.

Ps - Main uses are gaming, movies, net browsing and wanting to hook a Wii or X360 up to it at a later date...

At the end of the day mate its up to you, If you have the cash then just buy it because you aint gonna be dissapointed with the 2407 anyway ;)

oh i see.
ocuk have it for just over £500, which i would probably go for, but they use citylink, and they stink delivering to my house.

trying to find a online seller that doesnt use citylink is well hard. i would've brought direct from dell but that ramped up the price of the 2407 to near £700 again :(

OCUK only seem to be selling the A03 revision though.

theres a later revision? whats the difference between A03 and (issume) A04?

edit: found a place where i can afford a A03 rev, but they dont check for dead pixels and they say its the standard dell dead pixel return policy (ie 5 dead pixels to be considered returnable), if i brought from themll, am i still eligible for the return policy?

how common are dead pixels these days, im lucky my 2001FP didnt have any dead pixels but dont fancy playing a lottery and hoping i get no dead pixels..

never mind about the above, just splashed out £430 inc vat/delivery for a brand new a03 rev 2407wfp. not even from the auction site and they dont use citylink as a courier = win!

I got the a04 version and no dead pixel! :)

City Link are usually alright but when they get it wrong, they really do get it wrong! It never rains it always pours with them!
