2407WFP-HC Ghosting problem - solution

The fix is only for some customers most 2407WFP-HC's are some it seems need calibrating to correct the problem.

This is only for 2407WFP-HC REV A00 and not all display the problem, I just noticed a lot of users slating the monitor in particular on Dell's own site when it's a simple calibration problem

Hmmm interesting because I heard a rumour a REV A01 is due out although I've not seen anything about it.

personally I don't have any moving images as I'm working with photographs so it's not a problem.

No only on the A00 and I'm sure that it's just a calibration problem not an inherient fault / problem

ps Officially Acer Monitor warranty sucks! they show 3 year on-site we have 4 at work (the new 24's) and they will either repair on site and leave you with a refurb if they have to take it away or they come and take it away , repair it and send it back within 10days! I told them to buy Dell!

I'm still puzzled by all this i do not have any ghosting issues, found this on AV Forums more details info courtesy in part from Anandtech;

Only the purple snakes can be eradicated by adjusting the RGB colours.
The ghosting problems(http://youtube.com/watch?v=V1mN6lYAJzE) is on ALL (A00 revision) 24" HC versions Dell screens and it won't go away not matter what you do. It may appear less or more accordng to your settings. There is a long thread on dells community website http://www.dellcommunity.com/support...cending&page=1
plus more about it on other major and highly reputable forums.

From AnandTech forum: This monitor does have some issues with ghosting as discussed in this thread. The response time control (overdrive) is poorly controlled causing bright halos around moving objects. It may not occur as badly with different settings and the amount of ghosting depends on the color transition involved. If you're a big gamer you should probably avoid this monitor or wait for a new revision. The effects aren't as annoying for general usage or watching movies.

Leave your monitor on for 1-2 hours to warm up and then you will see that this issue exhibits a black after shadow from bright spots (over 75% brightness) in dark areas (under 40% brightness), it leaves a very dark sometimes black after shadow that lasts from 100-300ms.

Basically what’s happening is that after a bright pixels trys to switch to a darker colour, it overcompensates and switches to a colour that’s too dark and it takes between 100-300ms for it to settle onto the right brightness.

This means the issue is non-existent with white-to-black transitions, but white to dark grey, say RGB(64,64,64), will cause the displays pixels to switch from white to black, then to the correct grey some time later. The result is a displeasing dark shadow trailing behind bright objects moving across a dark-but-not-black background."

This issue has been acknowledged from Dell and now we are all waiting for an official responce from them. Should everything go according to common sense business tactits we should be able under the guarantee to exchange our monitors for the new revision ones that should come out in couple of months(hopefully). Till then we either send the monitors back and request a refund or simply wait till Dell have fixed it.
