Hey guys,

I have decided to do a transplant for my setup to a new case..

I am going to order (from OCUK) a Phanteks Eclipse P400A case, and wondering what you would do regarding cooling setup..

I have a 240mm AIO on order, and was thinking of the following for my cooling setup..

3x120mm fans in the front, the 240mm radiator on the top two front fans, leaving the bottom one open to help airflow to the bottom / PSU area..

Two extraction fans in the top, and a 120mm fan in the back, also extraction..

Does that sound reasonable? Will the 240mm look silly with the bottom fan exposed? Or am I just being anal?

Also, my choice for the front rad setup, is from YouTube, I have seen a big difference in temps from a front install against a top rad setup.

How would this work?

If I wanted to mount the rad on the front, how do I utilise the screws? if I want the fans in the front, then the radiator on teh inside of the case??

Either way, for the rad, long screws through the fans to the rad, standard fan screws for the rad to the case.

Depending on what you're running, the gpu is probably going to be the hottest thing if your machine is a (primarily) gaming rig. The cpu if not. Prioritise cool airflow to the hottest part seems to make sense to me, but other opinions are available.

Best thing really is to try the config you want to use, get a baseline then compare other options to see which is actually best for your combination of case and hardware

cheers for replying mate, I will have a look into it. I was thinking as intake as I noticed a YouTuber who tested it out and at the front made a massive difference in temps, about 8-10c :eek:

Regarding the installation, seems straight-forward enough, I just asummed the included screws might have been a touch short for the placement of the cooler i wanted.

Hmm, food for thought there mate thanks. Do you happen to know if a 240mm AIO will fit OK on top of the Phanteks P400a case??

The top of the case will take 2x120mm or 2x140mm fans, so it would definitely take a 240mm rad assuming you have the clearance on the motherboard.

They might not support it on the radiator diagram, but a 240mm space is a 240mm space...

The fan mounts look offset enough according to their site (assuming I'm looking at the right thing)

Just an update.

I have gone for the Lian-Li Lancool II after watching numerous videos online, and OCUK shipped today and will be with me tomorrow..

I will be top mounting the cooler in this case and will update with pics when it’s ready!
 
Hey guys,

Just got my new system setup. Man what a difference in my experience!

Looks so much nicer and the temps! Well, let me tell you about them..

They arent LN2 temps by any means but by comparision..Played a sesh of 64 man conquest BFV. My temps before would be roughly at peak -

CPU - 65c
GPU - 70 (fan speed 90-100%) :eek::eek:

Since the change :

CPU - 58c
GPU - 63c (fan speed peaking at 70%) :)

Very happy, and although my idle noise level is slightly higher, the in-game noise (even though I dont hear much with either my speakers or headphones, has dropped a lot, so another bonus!
