24GB of ram is it worth it

I have 8gb of the amd gamer series that came with my motherboard bundle i just had a look for another 8Gb to upgrade but i found a 16Gb B grade deal on oc so (2 stick)is it worth getting ?? or should i just see about getting another 8GB

For games no. For specific applications that you know to need 24gig, yes.

I have 32GB, games never appear to push it beyond 8GB utilisation.
 
8gig is plenty for gamers/games to be honest. I do have 16gig in mine and the only the time I see it reaches 13/14gig. When I use 3D Max/Maya, Photoshop and UE4 for work and small projects of mine.
 
I have 32GB, but run several virtual machines. My desktop VM has 8GB assigned to it which is fine for playing games with chrome keeping over 100 tabs open at the same time.

More memory used to mean more disk is cached in memory, but its not such an issue any more if you have an SSD.

I'd just make sure you can make use of all the memory channels as that will increase memory bandwidth, rather than sticking it all in one slot.
