Is that not a bit low compared to standard LCD, or is it measured differently?
They are field monitors - they are highly ruggardised professional displays designed for broadcasting and other such work. They are only around 10% more expensive then the existing LCD counterparts but the difference in quality is apparently substantial. There is no need for them to be any brighter than 100cd/m2 when the contrast is so high and this is a comfortable brightness for what they're used for. The lifetime of coloured OLED subpixels (particularly blue) is indeed a concern but I have been reassured by some very trustworthy people (some nutty professor types who actually make OLEDs) that things are coming along very nicely. I am not 100% sure but I think the Sony Trimasters OLEDs are actually WOLED (using a a number of white OLED pixels as a lightsource) as they use some kind of colour filter.
