25 " OLED Monitors finally here!

I wonder what the lifespan is on these screens.

I read somewhere that one of the main disadvantages of OLED displays is the lifespan of the pixels and that they degrade over time. They are also very prone to screen burn in.

No idea but I suspect it is different; oled produce their own light so my hunch is is it is like comparing apples to oranges

I wish people would stop talking about these and the ridiculous prices. :p They are field monitors - they are highly ruggardised professional displays designed for broadcasting and other such work. They are only around 10% more expensive then the existing LCD counterparts but the difference in quality is apparently substantial. There is no need for them to be any brighter than 100cd/m2 when the contrast is so high and this is a comfortable brightness for what they're used for. The lifetime of coloured OLED subpixels (particularly blue) is indeed a concern but I have been reassured by some very trustworthy people (some nutty professor types who actually make OLEDs) that things are coming along very nicely. I am not 100% sure but I think the Sony Trimasters OLEDs are actually WOLED (using a a number of white OLED pixels as a lightsource) as they use some kind of colour filter.
