What's a good card for around 250 quid? Must have dual dvi.

Was looking at nvidia 660 http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-033-KF&groupid=701&catid=1914&subcat=2379

Is this good/bad how does it compare for speed and ram etc What are the other alternatives?
I've always used nvidia stuff at home and ati (or whatever it is now) at work, so I'm not really a fanboy of either, but I tend to stick with what I have experience of (which is mainly nvidia).

Any opinions welcome.

The 7950 is faster than the 660TI.

I don't think any sensible person would suggest a 660Ti over a 7950. 660Tis are horribly overpriced for their performance.

I put the 7950 slightly above a 660TI from Anandtech comparisons Click here.

You can purchase a display port to D-DVI adapter/lead if you need 2 x D-DVI.

Edit:

I like to stick with cards that offer good warranties and basically fast turn around times. EVGA/Gigabyte/MSI and KFA2 are very good.

7950 is the most powerful card you can get at that sort of price. Outperforms the 660 Ti at stock speeds and that lead only increases if both are overclocked.

If it has to be Nvidia then you won’t get a 670 for that money; you’ll need to go with the 660 Ti. It’s a good card but it’s not good value at £250 tbh.

You don't need a DP to DVI adapter, that's just adding necessary expense, just get a cheap HDMI to DVI cable, works just as if it was straight DVI to DVI.

Ok, some good stuff to mull over there guys, thanks.

Looks like a 7950 variant is on the cards then .... amusing since my old graphics card is also a nvidia 7950gt oc 512mb card... way out of date, but the numbers are making me feel like it was meant to be er, sort of hehe.

EDIT:

So long as it will handle arma2/3 at reasonable quality and perhaps the new Xcom and sniper eliteV2 and have a little longevity in an i5 build I think I'll be happy.

I'm in same boat but I chose the msi tf3.

If your not overclocking get your self the sapphire vapor-x, but if you are oc don't bother as its voltage locked.

But if you are il base it on the coolers and by the looks of it the his iceq or the msi tf3 are the best to get. However, I chose msi for the 3 year warranty.

I just bought at XFX DD Black Edition 7950 yesturday (after a few weeks of pondering what to upgrade to. Currently using 3850), depending on where you get them from, you can pick one up for around about £250-£275

From the youtube reviews i've seen, (Linus' particularly), and the specs of XFX's website, it seems like a pretty good card.

It's funny you should mention that old card, because I was trawling around for Radeon 7950 while ago on Google and came across a listing which was a £50+ cheaper than anyone else. Too cheap to be true and sure enough it was an Inno3D 7950GT (anyone remember them?). Hm, £160 for such an antique!

Can't see how Google managed to trawl that up when I had entered Radeon 7950 though. No external links allowed here but I suspect that this card is not going to be moving from their inventory very quickly ;-)
