Probably not going to notice much at all in gaming.
Q9550's still better per clock (Instruction set depending)

Encoding/Unzipping etc, yeah you'll notice the gain, can't give you a percentage though.

Think I'd try an FX8320 at least from a Q9550.

sell current componets for about 90-100

put 200 to it get 8gb ram ddr 3
3570k and a gigabyte d3h mobo

put 50 plus sell your card for fifty and get a 6970 second hand

Far better off with a GPU upgrade, I'd go for a 7950.

Probably get some bottlenecking situation depending (But that's not surprising when the likes of DOWII will show a CPU bottleneck with any CPU and a 7970 etc)

Save your £250.... It's a complete waste upgrading within the next 2 years for you.

The only reason I would upgrade is because you have DDR2 - but I would STILL go with upgrading the 5850 first!
 
I went from a [email protected] to i5@4ghz and its a lot quicker. Not sure what difference the q9550 is over a q6600 but if its similar then its worth the shift.

I sold my Q6600, H50 cooler, motherboard and 4gb memory on Ebay and bought an i5 and motherboard from here along with some new memory (8gb)

It cost me -£10 to upgrade after selling old stuff!

Its a lot quicker in Starcraft 2
