£250 Upgrade

Hi Guys and Girls,

Decided to upgrade my current pc to something a bit faster, I am going to stick with my current Graphics Card until the next pay day I think, but I am basically looking for;

CPU
Mobo
Ram

For a budget of 250. I am on the s939 platform at the moment so nothing is really useable from that

How about this:

Asus P5Q Intel P45 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard
Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 LGA775 'Wolfdale' 3.00GHz (1333FSB) - Retail
Corsair 4GB DDR2 XMS2 PC2-6400C5 TwinX (2x2GB)

£278.98, yes its £28 over the budget, but i think its rearly worth spending the extra if possible.

Hmmm.. 250 was actually quite a high budget at the moment, how would a lower cpu overclock?

Usually quite well such as the E5200 which is only around £66, although you may want to add a better after market cooler such as the Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro which is around £18. This would bring the cost down to around £215

The only big difference between the P45 and P43 boards are the lack of crossfire support on the P43. So a bit cheaper if you don't mind this. The E7300 is a good CPU, one of the new wolfdales, throw in a cooler and should overclock very well, even at stock it should perform well.
