Hi All,

Now coffee lake is out im looking for a complete new build. Tower + Monitor

Max Budget: £2500

Im not confident in OCing so I'd prefer to stick with one of the OCed upgrade bundles.

I was looking at something similar to the below (No OS required). Looking for any changes advice, the monitor has been the hardest thing for me to nail down.

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £2,499.86
(includes shipping: £0.00)

Current Build:
Monitor: 1080p LCD LG (well worn)
CPU: i5 2500k
Ram: 8gb ddr3 1600
GPU: R9 380 4GB

First thing, get the Zotac 1080 TI, at £659.

Also, 4.8GHz on a Z370 with 8700K is not an overclock at all... it's a con. It's 100MHz extra.

EDIT:

Here's a few suggestions.

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £1,403.00
(includes shipping: £11.10)

No need for such a high end board TBH in the pre-pack/bundle. The money saved going this route gets you the far superior 1080 Ti for free.

If you aren't confident in OC'ing the system ask on here for help, if someone lives close by they may even pop round to help you. :)

The i7 8700K has a base clock speed of 3.7GHz so it is quite a decent overclock. From the only review I have seen they got 5GHz if I remember correctly. Apparently you should be able reach over 5GHz with good cooling etc.

No

"the 8700K boosts performance with six cores, 12 threads, and a mighty 4.7GHz boost clock, the fastest out-of-the-box clock speed Intel has ever produced"

All of the cores will need to be able to hit that 4.7GHz or it would have been binned as a lower chip, and applying an all core overclock of 4.8GHz will be a case of changing the multi, and maybe tweaking the voltage a tiny fraction if at all. Assuming you have decent cooling, (as selected) then there will be zero issues with almost every single CPU binned and sold as an 8700K hitting 4.8GHz.

It doesn't boost to that speed on all cores though. The 4.7GHz is just for a single core.

This Anandtech link shows 4.3GHz across 6 cores in there test for Turbo boost.

I know a few people using the trident who swear by it and since its in budget I figure why not.

The AIO cooler I was really just guessing, I think it is fairly good based on reviews. Unless anyone can recommend a different one.

Well for £30 you might as well keep it in. Same goes for the H100i GTX. It is a good cooler for that price so no reason to change it.

Hi All,

Unfortunately since I didn't commit during the week that 1080ti sold out (was looking into the 8700k supply issues). Ive tweaked the build slightly to fit in budget, most notably the ssd down to a 250GB which will suffice since I only run the OS and my 2 most played games from ssd. The HDD will suffice for the rest.

I also upped the PSU to a 750w as a friend said he didn't think 650 would be enough for the 1080ti and Overclocking. Happy to hear any amendments, I'm looking to place the order this evening.

Cheers !

(includes shipping: £15.90)

A 650W would be fine for a single gpu but if you want the 750W then a bit of extra headroom won't hurt. Everything else looks fine to me.

the 1080 should do you fine, you clearly chose a pretty good computer that matches your exact budget, dont go adding nearly £200 extra because someone says so..

that was before i read the improved build, so go with that.
