Hi all,

My company (Architect firm) want to start experimenting with VR and I've been tasked with building a machine. I'm assuming they'll want to demonstrate to clients in the future so performance should be decent.

Does this look ok? Budget is flexible but I'll need to justify the cost if it's much higher!

Hi

Are you set on that case ? If not I would look at something from Fractal Design (Maybe the Define Mini C) as they have very understated looks. A lot of them also have sound dampening foam on the interior panels for noise reduction. It doesn't have space for an optical drive if you needed one, but you could always go with an external drive. You will also have more room to work with internally, as the Prodigy is a bit cramped (PSU length for example is very restrictive)

The H60 cooler isn't worth that kind of money. I would go with a better quality air cooler such as the Noctua D15S. It doesn't interfere with any of the ram slots and it won't block off the top pcie slot. It will fit ok in the Fractal case. It will also run much quieter than a water cooler.

If you have no plans to SLI then a 550W unit is more than enough. So a 550W Leadex would do fine. If you want 750W then look at the Bitfenix Whisper unit.

TeamGroup do the 3000MHz Night Hawk Ram in a 32GB kit. It is a bit garish with the LED's but it wouldn't be seen in a non windowed case. It works out cheaper than the Corsair kit.

You could also get a cheaper GTX 1080 if you went with one of the Palit Jetstream cards.

Here is a review of the Gamerock edition: http://www.kitguru.net/components/g...lit-gtx-1080-gamerock-premium-edition-review/

The reason I've gone for that case is because we've got one in the office at the moment and the handles make it easy to move around to different meeting rooms/tables :p

Don't want anything too flashy as it'll probably get kicked/knocked around a bit.

The only reason I chose the H60 was because I imagine working inside the case is quite difficult.

I'll take a look at the TeamGroup ram, thanks!

As for the 1080, I just chose one that looked fairly short so it would fit inside the case!

I would look at getting a shallower depth psu then if you stick with the Prodigy, as the Leadex is 200mm long.

The MSI GTX 1080 is 279mm (10.98") and according to Bitfenix you will have 160mm of clearance for the psu for gpu's under 11".

The EVGA GS 550W is only 150mm long so that would give you a bit more room to work with. For a single GPU setup you won't need anything bigger wattage wise.

Great, thanks for the heads up.

I also just saw the Kaby Lake CPUs go up for sale. Any reason not to get one?
