2500k & 290x Upgrade Question

Morning Guys

Right very simple question really just upgraded to a 290x running at 1100\1400. My question is do you think i will be getting bolltleneck with my system playing BF3 i get avg 100FPS at 1920x1080p on ultra? Just wondering is it worth just watercooling my system as the GPU does get hot or do a spend my money on getting a quicker system ?

Getting a score on Heaven of 1414
And Firestrike 9500

Also i used to use the Windows CPU monitor via gadgets but windows has now stopped this whats the best monitoring program to use for GPU & CPU usage?

I think your 2500K at 4.6Ghz is more than enough for a single 290X.

And at 1080P the 290X is probably overkill anyway for most games out there at the moment.

Really nice setup I would say.

As above, your nicely clocked 2500k should be able to feed your single 290x just fine...

I moved from a 4.6Ghz 2500k to a 4.6Ghz 2600k and in some games there was a massive difference.

BF3 was one of them, GPU utilization was much higher and more consistent on the 2600k

Well i finally got BF4 been playing all day solid with no issues seems to be very good on my machine. been checking temps and CPU usage and getting the following while in game

GPU at 1100\1400 CPU 4.6GHZ

CPU Usage 70-85% in game
GPU at 100% all the time but keeps spiking
GPU temp 70c with fan set at 55%
CPU temps getting between 50%-60%

AVG FPS 80-100 at 1920x1080 on ultra

whats you guys think ?

Seems about right... These GPU spikes, does you CPU use jump when they happen?

The gpu is designed to operate at 95oC, so it looks like you may have more overclocking headroom in your GPU core clock. Try to increase it and let us know what your cpu usage is as well as your GPU clock and temp?

Sounds very promising on a reference card.
