2500k multiplier question

Not sure if this is a cpu problem board problem or a user problem (me !)

Basiclly my stock multiplyer is 33

in the bios is says max multiplay rang **-33 (i cant remember the lowest number )

If i overclock it to 40 multiplier it still stays at 3.4Ghz?

My board is a p8z68-v pro board
intel 2500k
corsair vengeance 2x 2gb

Im going to try the in windows side of OC just in case but any ideas?

I don't know, but if you post in the dedicated overclocking section on the forum you will probably get a better response

Download and run CPU-Z and then run soemthing like Prime95 to stress the CPU, CPU-Z will give you true figures.

What still says 3.4 GHz? Windows system info pages are a bit pants at that sort of thing CPU-Z is a good suggestion if you aren't using it yet.

For sake of testing, Asus' in-Windows tool for playing with multipliers is pretty good, worth using over BIOS while you're finding stable settings.

I was under the impression that because it was the k series it was unlocked ?
