Noticed this when monitoring my CPU. It's overclocked to 4.1GHz, but when the PC is idling the clock speed doesn't drop to 1.6GHz like it used to. Any suggestions?

2500K not down clocking

Don't think so, there are a few like C-State and Speedstep, but I'm not too sure what they do. I thought Speedstep would down clock the CPU, but it's enabled and not doing it! I'm using EVGA Precision

Sorry! Been a bit busy the last week. Still no luck after changing settings about, really don't understand why this has happened. It decreases voltage a bit, but always keeps my clocks high. Could Windows 8 have something to do with it?

Looks like we found our culprit. Installed the older CPUZ as suggested and it's now showing a clock speed of 1.6GHz. Many thanks mecca!
