Hi guys,

I have a 2500k and an ASRock Extreme4 Gen3 MB. I'm trying to OC to 4.5 but I can't get past 4.3.

I'm manually setting the ratio to 45 and I've put the Vcore to 1.35 I've also tried higher and lower vcore's but I can't even boot into Windows. I'm currently at 43 and 1.34 and this is stable.

My question is, would it be the motherboard or the CPU stopping going any higher?

I have a H60 liquid cooler so I'm happy with that. Would like to get the most out of this CPU for GTA V :D

I think I've got a cooler issue to add into the mix. I'm getting very high temps. If I put it in auto 4.4 (or any auto actually) I'm getting high 80's/90's. I've ordered a new H90 cooler so will try again after I've fitted that.

Thanks for the info guys.

Have you followed any of the numerous 2500k overclocking guides available on the intrawebs?

Here is one to get you started. (for your main board, i believe.)

Dunno why you have bought a new cooler when you have no idea what your tweaked OC temp results even are yet.

If it does 4.4 on auto, you know it will do 4.4 and AUTO sets things pretty high...there is always room to shave off and get it cooler while still stable.

Thanks for the link. I'm getting another cooler because I'm planning to build another rig soon so though I might as well upgrade my current one now and use the one one in the new rig.

Think I've actually put in on 4.6 auto before but temps have been sky high! I'll test it out again tomorrow and see where I get too.

Hi guys,

Just a quick update. I've managed a stable clock at 4.4Ghz I can go higher but I'm happy with that.

Turns out my high temps where due to a failed water pump. Swapped it out and I'm not getting around 75c on full load.

To OC I set the vcore in offset at .005v and put the turbo boost at .008v Everything else is default.

Thanks for all the help on this :D
