I've got my 2500k up to 4.6ghz using my Asrock Extreme4 Gen3's turbo profile and manually setting the voltage in offset mode. Large FTTs in Prime95 and the chip pulls 1.296v; temps are around 62 degrees.
I've seen some people talk about not using a turbo profile, and manually setting the multi. Is this effectively the same as turning off Intel's SpeedStep? What are the benefits of having it run at 4.6ghz all the time and not clocking down when not under load?
When idling the CPU goes down to 1.5ghz and pulls just over 1v, I can't see a downside to this?
