Hi guys, this is driving me mad. I'm trying to overclock my cpu to 4.8GHz (I've had it up to 5GHz at 1.4V in the past), but for some reason when I load it with prime it drops the multi to 4.6GHz

And I hadn't changed anything in the bios besides multi and vcore, so no idea why it's doing this. I'm pretty sure I had EIST enabled beforehand, but now it doesn't downclock to 1.6GHz with either EIST, C1E or both enabled or disabled.

I have tried disabling very power state option there is, extending power state limits to the max 255W. No joy. It's safe to say that I'm stumped. Any ideas?

The only difference to when I overclocked the nuts off it last time is W8 is installed not 7.

Whyyyyyyy?!!!!

I blame windows 8. I have heard other stories like this from when people switch to windows 8. I have no idea why it happens though. You might be able to find some threads on the subject if you google it.

Temps were all in low 60s. I think it's windows 8 doing some sneaky power management (even though I made sure to check the cpu power management states in CP), because it doesn't downclock at idle like it should when I revert to my original 4.2GHz overclock (which had EIST enabled).

It's a moot point now anyway because I made the mistake of updating my BIOS, which bricked the board lol. Thank god it's still under warranty, and Bailey has set me up an RMA number to get it sorted already so I'll be a bit more careful next time, maybe I'll even stick with the 4.2GHz for the foreseeable future.
