2500K upgrade options?

Had my 2500k from launch pretty much and started getting the upgrade itch recently and decided to see how Skylake performs before making any decisions. Since my next GPU upgrade may very well be a second 980 from the MM then I ought to be getting an i7 chip?

I see lots of people raving about the 5820K, particularly from a value for money point of view. Would that be a decent choice for a gaming PC along with a mid range motherboard (say £150) and 16gb of RAM?

Or should I just hang on to the 2500K until I next upgrade my GPU?

Anything else to consider?

Thanks

what do you use the PC for, is it gaming only?

2500K is still fine for gaming even at 1080P. I have a I7 950 @ 3.4ghz for gaming with a poor gpu and this is still fine. (looking to upgrade mine at some point)

if its gaming I would get a gpu and keep the rest for a bit longer :)

Gaming is the only intensive thing I use it for (1440p) and I only got my 980 a month ago or so. Probably wont add another until next year.

didn't realise you had a 980 already, if that is the case then I wouldn't bother upgrading anything.

take it the PC is the 1 in your sig?
