2500k upgrade

Is it worth upgrading to a Skylake? The new Broadwell-E CPUs seem overpriced for what they are

Depends on your uses. Personally I think I could have got another year atleast just fine out of my 2500k.

The i5-2500K is a pretty powerful beast, especially if you've already overclocked it.

I think it's probably worth an upgrade if you're looking at new graphics cards too, because the CPU might start to hold you back.

I've just upgraded from my trusty i5-2500K to an i7-6700K with an Asus Maximus VIII Hero Z170 board. It seemed to offer the best balance of price/power for a modern graphics card for general gaming use.

I have a 2500k, Only upgrading when Cannonlake is out.

You could always stick a 2700k in as a cheap stop gap if you need more threads, but skylake isn't a massive upgrade so I'd hang on a bit longer.

it depends if you need the extra features of z170, minimums go up with a 6700k.

No reason not to wait for Zen. I don't expect Zen to beat intel on performance, but maybe they'll come in at a great price. I'm on a 2500k myself too.
