250GB Slim HD around £70

So final confirmation, if I purchase an old style XBOX 360 HDD, take it out of the casing and put it into a slim, I will not get banned from live?

No you will not get banned. Just make sure its a genuine drive to be safe and not one of the many copies on ebay etc....

True. That's going to be a issue... There's not much point in buying one brand new as for the extra pennies I could just get a 250GB one anyway...

It seems like this is going to be a lot of hassle so I might just purchase the 250GB one.

Game had 120gb drives for £20 pre-owned. I personally wanted the Matt black as the shiny black is Horrid. I,m not sure of the cost difference but if its only a few quid it might well be worth getting the 250gb..

The 120GB for £20 is a bargain but like you said, what if they turn out to not be official? Isn't it impossible to tell?

EDIT - Just checked around online and you'd be looking at £55 for a preowned 120GB.

Stores should only sell official drives, you can tell by the warranty stickers (Hologram) and the official 120gb has 120gb HDD stamped on the top..

Unofficial drives share the same Id,s so these could be banned. Official 360 drives are exactly the same as the official 250gb drive just different sizes.

Not this again.

They don't ban for using unofficial drives. Yes, it's against the TOU, and yes technically they could ban for it, but the fact is people (including myself) have been using unofficial drives for years and I've yet to see a single person banned for it.

Yes its unlikely. Personally I would not risk it but each to their own.
