I don't know much about psus and how much is needed for whatever. But I have an old case with a 250w PSU in it. Im getting some new hardware (a c2d, 2gig of geil and a geforce 7900).

I have three questions.

1. Is that psu good enough ?
2. How do I know that this psu or one that I buy from the site will have the right wires/connectors that I need?
3. Some say something about 2.0 and some say something about 2.2 - what are they and what one would I be looking for?

ATX 2 and 2.2 are new standards for a lot of 64bit chips, on the long connector that goes to the mobo there used to be 20 pins now on most new boards there are 24.

in terms i what you need i dont think a 250W will cut it. there are some online calculators that work out what you need, aslo in some motherboards they have a table showing different setups and what psu rating they recomend.

its also wort noting that ATX v2/.2 can still work with atx1 as most allow you to detach the last 4 pins
