IS there any chance any of you fine folk can post your oc settings please.
I initially want a 4.0 to see how things go and may try 4.2 if all ok.

As stated in one of my multiple threads...
Spec is:
2550K
ROG Maximus V gene Z77 board
Hyper 212 Evo cooler (with MX 4)
2x4GB 1600MHz Avexire Core red (something like 9 9 9 24)
KFA2 GTX 660 2GB
Corsair CX430 PSU

I know the PSU is a bit weak but thought it might be OK for 4000 MHz.

FYI - I haven't tried this before so am a total OC virgin so please go easy.

Try These:

High llc
cpu voltage offset mode
+0.020v in offset
cpu current capability 120%
phase control extreme
Disable Turbo

i would put in 1.3v manual and just bump the multiplier up till it bosd. then add another 0.02v and that should be fine. i run mine @5ghz on 1.41v but it can do 4.6ghz on 1.28v if i am going to leave it on 24/7 f@h

Whoops, forgot to disable turbo.
I applied the settings above with VTT at 1 notch above standard and got 4.5Ghz
but HWmonior was reading 1.376 V
I didn't do anything demanding though, just ran Heaven but noticed CPU was only going to around 2.2Ghz anyways.

I think I will o a bit more reading up before attempting it again..
I want to understand why to turn turbo off, I quite like the idea of normal at idle etc...
I take it if I do as Jumper has stated then the CPU will run OCd and not idle at 1.6Ghz as standard or am I wrong ?

it will downclock the speed of the cpu, but the voltage will be constant.

I'm not sure HWMonitor is correct to be honest so don't worry too much! I'm not sure how the board would display the voltage, but when in 'normal' mode (is what its called on my gigabyte Z97), its value won't change from say 1.2v (as an example). The offset will add the additional voltage upto the amount you've specified (+0.020)

Disabling Turbo won't stop the CPU from clocking up and down, I think that's the job of speedstep!
