thinking of getting a new monitor.

purely for gaming, mainly racing games like iracing and bf3.

what would be the best path to take 120hz or get a higher res monitor like 2560x1440???

what would show the biggest difference or enhance my gaming the most?

im not fussed on the 3d at all...

cheers...

well i go through stages im massively into iracing atm so thats all im playing and im abit fed up of bf3 but it will be the opposite again soon probably...

well i got my 120hz monitor today..

Damn its so much nicer playing on this, every thing is so so smooth..

bf3 was like a different game and i racing was just so fluid...

loving it...

except for the dead pixels...

I think people convince themselves things are so much smoother at 120hz after shelling out the dough, i couldnt see a whole lot of difference myself when I bought a Alienware 120hz monitor, it was great quality but I couldnt take the colour quality loss over my PVA.

Sold it after a month and have since moved up to a 27" 2560x1440 which is just the best monitor ive ever owned.

I really wanted 120hz to be great but for me, it wasnt.

i havent convinced myself of any thing ive had my 60hz asus monitor and this benq 120hz monitor right next to each other to compare them and the 120hz monitor i defo a lot smoother than the 60hz full stop for me...

Surely you need some serious power to hit 120fps in BF3 at 1080p or 60fps at 1440p...

120hz isn't really worth it if you can't hit vsync at 120fps. It is consistency that is important for competitive FPS games. Older stuff like Quake I can definately see the point but in BF3 surely you need to drop the details way down to hit 120hz?

even at 60fps on a 120hz monitor its still miles smoother and more fluid...
