Hello everybody, i'm building my new computer and i'm not able to chose the best option for gaming at the resolution in the object..my options are:

1 SLI Nvidia 580 (3Gb memory)
2 Xfire Ati 6950 (4Gb memory)
3 (any other option!???)

Tks so much in advance for all your help!

Best Regards, Loris

P.S. i don't know if it will help but the most used game will be Diablo III ^ ^

With SLI and Crossfire you don't add the VRAM together. It doesn't work like that as data is duplicated across the cards.

So 2 x 1.5GB GTX 580's still equals 1.5GB of effective VRAM and 2 x 2GB HD 6950's still equals 2GB of effective VRAM.

This.

I'd recommend 2x GTX580 3GB or 2x HD6950 2GB. Just stay away from 2x GTX580 1.5GB if you can. It's not that 2x 1.5GB will not run, but it may disappoint you in certain games that requires a huge amount of vram.

Either will do, but go for the big vram options. I'm hugely vram limited in BF3 at that res on a 5850. No aa for me, and that game needs it!

Tks so much everybody for your great replies! So one of the most important factors is the VRAM on 1 single card..the most the better..then the pure GFX power!

Tks so much, your replies opened my eyes! Now i've to chose a 27" monitor ^ ^

Tks everybody
BR, Loris!

P.S. New Nvidia and ATI cards?! When? Hope will not be as Bulldozer ^ ^

But a 6990 think will be able to work at 2560x1440 alone, at least i think..
U can Xfire a 6990 with a 6970?! Never heard about it but i'm everything but not an hardware expert
Cheers, Loris
