2560x1600 Monitors

Im looking to buy a monitor between 27 and 29 inch for work and possibly future gaming, eg PC and New Xbox or possibly PS4 (whichever is best)

I know they are doing the 29" Ultra Wides at OC and LG have made a similar super wide one called the EA93 which looks great. (Does anyone know if OC are going to stock this one ?) Both monitors for under £500

These look great and are a consideration, however i have heard they are "too wide" for gaming purposes so im hoping to get some advice on both current and upcoming 27" monitors such as ips with 2560x1600 resolution.

I'm not interested in the Hazro or DGM IPS, ive heard enough bad things about them to steer well clear, I know im wanting all my eggs in one basket but id like a 3D 120hz, slim border, good quality 27" IPS with 2560x1600 resolution if possible, is there anything like this coming out, can anyone recommend any good ones that are available at OC or in the UK ? im prepared to wait ?

No AFAIK there are no 120hz IPS screens comming out.

Only 120hz you can get is TN which are worse image quality and low resolution.

Take a look at the Dell U2713HM or the Asus PB278Q. I'm not aware of any IPS 120hz monitors coming any time soon.

You want something we all want. But, they just don't exist - and there is nothing in the pipeline to suggest we'll see anything like that soon. I actually think you've more chance of seeing 4k monitors become mainstream but not for a few more years at least. 2560x1600 commands a premium I know not why, but is the better and in my view the "correct" aspect ratio for computer monitors.

the problem is when i see the price of the dell u27 and Asus PB278Q i think to myself i might as well get the better bigger 29" ultra sharp for the same price ? or am i missing something ? i know they arent 2560 but they are said to be like 2 displays

i take it either of these 27" screens are higher (taller displays) than the 29" ultra wide ?

does anyone happen to know where i can find a pic of the 29" dell ultra wide next to 24" 16:10 24 monitor ? ive googled but cant find any, i want to know how the 29" would sit next to my 24" whether it would be taller or the same height

I would imagine those ultra wide would be pretty damn weird for browsing internet etc. I even find 16:9 a bit too wide compared to 16:10 but it may be good for using 2 windows side by side.

Does look pretty cool though although I think I would personally stick with the 27" normal ones. Also those 29" have quite a bit of input lag but a better contrast ratio compared to the 27" asus and Dell's. Swings and roundabouts.

cheers man thats near perfpect, the 23 sits by it perfeclty as well ! what worries me now is your 23 is almost taller than the 29, (or am i wrong) so im betting my 24 will be, i worry its gonna feel like a bit of an odd match !!

and as you mentioned your 24in is 16:10 it will almost certainly be taller. i think that LG is 16:9.

I've been using my u3014 (16:10) for a bit now, I definitely wouldn't want it any shorter height wise. I don't know how you 16:9 guys cope with the lack of height!
