256MB 8800GT for GPU2 client

Worth dropping £45 on one simply for folding?

If I already have a machine with a 512MB 8800GT folding could I add a 256MB (not in SLi obviously) and run the GPU2 client on both cards?

The output from the GPU client is good but the real cost is in the leccy bill.

ooops - one of these just jumped into my shopping basket - should be delivered Monday so I'll give feedback

I should really have paid double for the 512MB but the way I see it by the time 512 is the minimum there'll be a far better core in a budget package that I'll have that bit more money to upgrade to

Exactly. The 8800GT 256mb at <£50 is far and away the best points per pound folding solution.

Nice thinking - if the GPU client copes alright with non-24/7 crunching I may even chuck one in the GF's X2 as currently it's only doing standard work

Also depends on the noise

I upgraded my AMD X2 from NF3/AGP to a cheap PCIE Asrock 939N68PV-GLAN and a used 8800GT. Went from 1000ppd to 5000ppd.
