The fans are meant to be quite good, keeps things cool.

But your not allowed to link or mention competitors, forum rules ;) May wanna edit some stuff..

Welcome

They are fairly noisey due to the amount of air they push and generally only used in low quality cases. Also... no linking to competitors and it's a repost anyway ;)

The whole point of fans getting bigger is so they can push the same volume of air at lower noise than the smaller counterparts.

The 80mm fans push the same air as the 120mm models for the most part for the normal fans, but at higher noise levels.

A 25cm fan should be totally silent, not noisey and not able to be changed by the end user.

160mm fans are the largest I can see becomming the norm, but 120mm seem to offer good noise levels and acceptable CFM so there is currently no need to go up again, especially as thermal tolerances on the hardware are going up all the time, and the components are running cooler.

It is a gimmic in my eyes to sell cases, if it was required then every high end case would have it, the prime example I am thinking of is *** Stacker 830 and the Ss TJ07, top of class for all out cooling and look at the fan load out. All user configurable so able to match the cooling / noise ratio you want roughly.

If it was a ATX accepted component and a standard throughout PC's then it would be handy, but with cheap models cropping up all the time, you just can't guarantee the reliability and if the fan will perform how you want. Also they are usually stuck on gaming cases so enough said about that. :p

The Thermaltake offering may be the best one at the moment; I just do not see the need for these other than it being the trend. I would mod a 320mm fan in running silent if I needed the performance, but I dont and 10cfm see's me through.

damn, he knows to much  :(

It is called seeing lots of trends in gaming cases, was the integrated fan controllers or temperature bay a while back.

Wish it was the Thermaltake Ciggy lighter and ash tray, would mean all PC gaming cases were smoker friendly, and comical faults, the ash tray on my PC fell into it due to poor build quality, my PC is full of ash and wont boot, help! :D

Overall a bigger fan should be able to push more air at less volume than a smaller one, if it makes more noise then it has missed the point of having bigger fans.

Has anyone used Thermaltakes offering yet?

It is the only one I think shows potential at the moment.

they can push more air, but at less RPM is the idea.

but when you get to a certain amount of air turbulance you will hear it.

You just said exactly what I did in different words. :p

Have yet to find one that pushes a lot of air, even at silly volumes they were no better than two 120mm akasa amber 7v's as a blowhole.

and about 250 less ;)

That all. :p

I am not one for the simple answer when I have a lot to say as you may have guessed.

When 250mm fans become a standard replaceable component I will look into it, but cooling tied to a case like that is asking for it in one way or another, especially considering how anal I can be about noise sometimes.

Will be utter cactus weed.

No fan stats are acurate, unless they are done by someone else, with the same setup for each fan.

The 16db reading could have been taken through a concrete wall, 20m away for all we know.

A akasa at 18db may have been 2m away only, you get the idea.

Not a acurate representation of the performance of the fans, Thermaltake once had a fan that beat the 80mm delta, with the noise level of a normal fan. Safe to say it was very poor; mind it was the Xaser days.
