25gb of webspace. How to use as a backup for my pics?

Helloo

I have 25gb of webspace and I would like to use it not just for my website but as somewhere to backup my photos.

What would be the best way to do this? If using FTP what folder could I put the files into so they are not available on the www. public htdocs folder?

Put them in any folder above public_html and no one will be able to access them.

So if I made a folder where the htdocs and logfiles folders are I could put them there and they wouldn't disappear then?

Yep. They "shouldn't" disappear but I can't be sure. You'll probably find a lot of hosts don't technically allow you to use their service for file backup purposes though.

could alway password protect a directory, nearly all hosts use that these days. if not .htaccess will do it anyway.
