I believe IPS is the best panel type to buy for general surfing, office work and gaming but does anyone have a list of which 26"+ monitors to look at using this panel type?
I currently have a HP laptop which has a 20" screen (HP HDX Dragon), not sure on the panel type but viewing angles are excellent and there is no blur in gaming so sounds like it could be an IPS.

you can search in the panel search tool here (put in '26"WS LG' and choose the 'panel' search)....should bring up a list of all the 26" IPS based models :)

more common models around at the moment are the NEC LCD2690WUXi (and the newer v2 model), and the very new ViewSonic VP2655wb

I thought no ghosting would make it more likely to be a TN tube as they have lower response times.

Well i had a Dell 9400 laptop with 17" screen before this and this HP screen is night and day better on viewing angles, colour and the same on blurring...ie it doesnt.

Also VA-panels have very good viewing angles compared to TN crapolas but there's one thing where they differ from IPS, gamma stability of dark shades which compresses differences of dark colours when viewed from horizontally straight on.
Also this picture with colour stripe text is good indicator:

IPS is only LCD type which shows it without notable colour/brightness changes in some direction. (only slight change in corners)

LG W2600HP-BF was one good gaming IPS but now its availability isn't good.
NEC's WUXi is another.
It's really sad how that lowest quality is being jammed to as standard in everywhere.

In case of Viewsonic you have to remember to be very precise with model number because VP2650 is TN and it's only VP2655 which is IPS.

TN's have just bigger lies in specs.
