260 gtx

Yeah, some difference. Depends what games you will be playing and what resolution. The performance of the 192 core card certainly isn't bad though.

Depends how much you clock either. A 192sp overclocked higher than a 216sp is going to perform better. Clock for clock the 216 is obviously better, but only in the region of 2-3%.

I can tell you, my old GTX 260 (192) overclocked to 710MHz core was about 5FPS slower than my GTX 280 at stock clocks in Far Cry 2 and Crysis. Obviously now I'm running the GTX 280 overclocked which has widened the gap considerably. (720MHz).

Depends tbh - in some cases its as little as 0.5fps in other cases it can be 10-15fps.

Generally its very marginal.

Here you go, some Crysis benchmarks with my old 260.

I'm suprised you got that much difference tho it depends on the scale I guess - in benchmarking the default crysis demo benchmark at 1920x the 216sp 260 was equal in performance give an error margin of +/- 0.5fps to a stock 280GTX and the 192sp card was only 2fps behind clock for clock...

When I said stock, I have the XFX XT model, so its factory overclocked which is what I should have really said. Is it 602MHz actual stock speed? XT is 640MHz iirc.

To give a comparison to the shots above... at 1680x1050 with no AA and 730MHz on the core (only 1000 on the memory) my 216sp 260 gets 55.6.

CPU doesn't make much odds - I was running a Q6600 at 3.6gig when I did that benchmark... I have a screenshot actually but GPU-z isn't showing correct clocks in it.

elpedro - WOW!!! Nice overclock.... :Jaw hit's floor:

S'posse that almost rivals a GTX285@ Stock

It was a MSI brand OC edition of the original 260. 730MHz was about as far as I pushed it, could bench at 745MHz but wasn't game stable.

Didn't realise how close it would be to my GTX 280 when I got it, having said that, I have it happily running at 720MHz :)
