Will i see much of a difference? GTS has been a absolutely amazing card for me but now im using 1920X1080 im having quite a dip in FPS on certain games when high on AA.

Could someone link me to a comparison site please, i dont know what im looking for.

Just put 8800GTS vs 260 and it just brings up other forums with questions like this, when i use to roam this section, people use to post up sites what compare graphics cards to 10 or so different games at different res'es, could you tell me what site that is please.

i have got the same, its actually still runs all my games fine from crysis to grid to fall out 3 and so on, roughly around 25-40fps which i know is more then enough, but i just feel like a upgrade is needed now for future games for next year or so

a point of view GTX 260 Maxcore or the Sapphire 4870 1024MB GDDR5, both 165 quid

no sided ati/nvidia fans please i just want to know which card i would benefit most from at 1920x1080 with max settings. Thanks
 
It's hit and miss, some games favour one card over the other. Especially with 9.1 meant to be giving big gains, it's a tough choice. Not what you want to hear, but hey flip a coin... :p
 
They trade blows at almost all higher resolutions, best bet is to pick your favourite games and see which card best suits you. I would say either, I have used them both and can confirm that they are both very good.
 
hmmmmm well emailing someone at moment about a 260 and he wants 165 for it.

dunno what to do lol, ive always favoured nvidia and never had a problem with a single card/driver with them.......but when checking benchmark sites 260 vs ati 48701GB there all differnt , obviously money under table for the reviews

so that wasn't any help!

Oh ATI then, easy. Treat yourself to a new card :) If the GTX 260 was bought from OCUK then they weren't swap the warranty and you'll have to go to the manufacturer which is extra hassle.
 
Speed wise, from 1920x1200 I found a difference of approximately 20-50% game dependant going from a 8800GTS 512 to a 4870 512. The 260 trades blows, so you'd get a similar improvement with the 260, this difference will probably reduce slightly at 1920x1080 as the GTS was capable at lower resolutions, but not so much so at top resolutions (limited memory bus for one) so you'd get a similar performance gain.

The 1GB ATI card is slightly better at high res than the 512 card, mostly when AA/AF is involved. Given the price at the moment on TWO, I'd be tempted to get a 1GB 4870 over a 260, as it's £50 cheaper and roughly the same performance game dependant.

Driver wise they've both got problems so I'm not going to go there!

thanks for the reply's, even tho the vote went towards ati on here i ended up gettin the nvidia 260 :) never had a problem we nvidia, so ill stick with them
