Hi,will buy one of these for an HTPC setup that will also play games at 1280 etc on an sd plasma,Panasonic pwd7b.
Is there any real merit in an dd4 version over the ddr3 or 4?I presume,in time hounoured fashion in the graphics game, there is no real advantage in 512 ddr3 over 256 ddr 4?
All getting rather confusing

For pure HD use I think the 2400,2600 pro would be sufficient! :D
They are all good performers in terms of HD use but in gaming the pro's wont do too much. the Sapphire HD2600XT DDR3 @ £70 is quite good value as you can still run games at decent speeds also should you want to.

The difference between DDR2 and DDR3 is certainly evident however due to the limited memory bus there is no difference between DDR3 and DDR4 as both wil perform pretty similarly

i think when u crossfire 2 2600xt ddr4 version maybe thats when the ddr4 kicks in...

it wont really be too great though, only 128bit isnt it

but its better then 64bit lol.. to be honest the memory speed doesn't really matter.. its the core speed thats more important...

I doubt it to be honest, these cards dont really need DDR4
but even on the 2900xt ddr4 version theres only 1 or 2 fps more than the ddr3 version..

am wondering could it be down to the drivers?

DDR4 is really supposed to decrease the power used etc but there is no evidence to this so far. Plus in all DDR4 cards released so far DDR3 has outperformed, matched or lost(but only by a few frames 1 or 2). It's also more expensive. You see that in the £20+ premium on the 2600's and it just isnt worth it.

anyway i'm very happy with my 2600xt ddr4 card :D . it run games very well. i will be ordering a second card on monday for crossfire.. :)

Apart from advising that a 2600XT is preferred over the Pro, just get whichever brand you like ( i go for Sapphire & Powercolor) that is cheaper.

yep, if u haven't got space in your case, u should get the ddr3 version...

btw i have a idea for the ocuk forums but i don't know where to post it. so ill just post it here.

can a system spec drop down tab be added? i think it would be a great idea. i've seen it on another forum site... see below:

Update: i have ordered my second card today so i will have it tomorrow :D ... i will do some benchmark tests tomorrow afternoon and ill post the results..

Hi, I'd be very interested in your results as I am considering going from my hot and noisy XT1900XT-X to a crossfire setup such as yours. I'm wondering if there will be much of a improvement...
