Which card basically to get ??? My friends getting a new pc on the cheap so i said get a X1950 PRO to keep you going till the end of the year.

The X1950 PRO is no weak card i have one my self so i highly recommend it. Since i run most of my games at high with AA @ 1440 X 900.

However some one told him to get a 2600 XT since its much better. From what ive heard the 2600 isn’t that good and the X1950 PRO is much better even though its a DX9 card its still more powerful and will pull more FPS and is much better at higher resolutions.

So which card is better for my friend i would say X1950 PRO????

x1950pro without a doubt, its even faster than the 8600 GT/GTS, and even those are faster than the 2600. :)
indeed thats what i said but some evil person wants him to buy a 2600 just because its DX10 !!!

i have a 2600xt card, its very good. but if u wanna play games with AA on u should go for X1950 PRO . however i play Lost Planet Extreme Condition on my 2600xt all settings on high and i get between 35 -40 FPS.

thats the problem hes going to get a bigger monitor and the 2600 will find it hard compared to the X1950 pro

i have 30" lcd monitor and 22" lcd monitor. i always play games in mostly 1280 x 800 or 1440 x 900, sometimes higher depending on the game.. i agree it isn't the best card. but it is a very good card, going from a x1600xt + x1650 pro in crossfire

thats not that bad for that card.

Should my friend go for:
OcUK ATI Radeon X1950 Pro £76.36
Sapphire ATI Radeon X1950 Pro £93.99

However hes worried about the warrenty on the ocuk and is it worth the "risk" or shall he just go for a branded card

HI there

Were now selling X1950 Pro's for cheaper than 2600's. On OcUK X1950 Pro is only £64.99 +VAT. :)

the Sapphire ATI Radeon X1950 Pro £93.99 has 512mb so maybe better.

I wouldn't even take Dx10 in to account as its got a bob hope chance of running it, even the 8600 GT whips its ass by up to 30fps and more, as you can see here :D

That article seems pretty clear-cut yet have a read through this one: http://www.extremetech.com/article2/0,1697,2151689,00.asp

In everything apart from FEAR, the 2600xt is shown to be more than a match for the 8600gt and in their two dx10 benchies the 2600xt stomps all over the nvidia cards (while still managing to have pitiful scores of its own :)).

If you'd only read one or the other you'd come to quite drastically different conclusions wouldn't you...

back 2 the point the X1950 pro beats them both :D

but 2600xt in crossfire beats the X1950 pro and its nearly up to a 2900

So lol? the 2600xt is around £75 while the x1950 is £76 so crossfire 2600xt's would cost around £150...

but at least 2600xt as directx10 , the x1950 doesn't. i know directx 10 is slow at the moment but in time it will get better.

i play Lost Planet Extreme Condition in directx 10, it runs well for me.

[SARCASM] ooooo... must run out and sell my X1950XT and get two 2600xt's in crossfire!!!![/SARCASM]

Honestly, I wouldn't waste my money unless you needed the extra features the 2600xt has over the old x19xx series cards.
