So, my 2600k will be arriving today.

And im hoping to get it built in time to get some clocking done.

From what I see so far there seems to be a bit of a divide when it comes to clocking these chips.

Some are only clocking the Turbo mode, so the cpu spikes up when needed.

Others are disabling the function and running a permanent clock.

I quite like the idea of my CPU being able to "relax" when its idle.

However my question basically comes down to the difference in the 2 methods.

Will I see any benefits to disabling the turbo feature and permanently clocking the chip ?

Its all so new :P

Thanks in advance. Will be live on forums while clocking later today.

No benefits, people only setup their rigs like that for high speed suicide runs to minimise any effect by speedstep or eist. After they have had their epeen release they usually go back to normal settings where the system drops down to idle clocks when not in use.

Always best to have Speedstep and the other power saving features enabled for general use. My CPU idles at 1.6Ghz and I've set it to hit 4.6Ghz under load.
