I have 3930k rig in a huge rv01 I'm moving to a smaller place so need a smaller pc so looking to get the ft03 which is micro atx. My question is what would be best suit In that case on air cooling ?

I only game and surf the web I only got 3930k because I can didn't really notice any boost over my 920 in what I use it for.

What would you do keep the future proof 3930k and have a mini power house ?

Or

Sell it for 350 get a 2600k for around 160 and pocket the difference ?

Hi mate ,

For me as long as you dont envisage any real heat issues in the smaller case then i personally dont see why you should change your CPU being how good of a CPU it is. Things may obviously get much toastier in their but as long its within the thermal allowance of the CPU then your good to run that 3930K.

Hi,

First off you won't get tri-sli anything in a mATX case, so what is your plan for that?

I think two-way SLI will work though (may get a little toasty).

As for cooling, getting a big air cooler like the D14 or K2 would be my choice, would keep your 3930k under control and working then..

The major concern now is motherboards, to get a decent 2011 motherboard (with SLI capability) will set you back £240 (atleast)...where as the same motherboard (gene) cost £160 ish in 1155.. you could probably get one secondhand too..

I'd personally ditch the 3930k, get a 3770k and 1155 motherboard running 670 SLI, with a k2 for cooling. :)

Only running sli now, I was looking at the d14 thought it would go well In a small case like the ft03.

The asrock 4-m is just over 160 for the x79 platform which looks good value and is the same to what I'm used to.

Mmmmm I keep thing is it worth trying to save a few 100 which I might regret in the long run.

Personally I think the best small micro ATX case is the Silverstone TJ08B-E.

As for moving to a a smaller place, most PC cases inhabit similar floor space, and reasonable desk space usually sits above it. Is it really going to be so cramped you have to go small?

Reason I use small cases is indeed due to my current small room placement, with the PC sitting next to me on a desk. I guess the FT03 is fine in that regard. If there is a MicroATX version of your full ATX it seems logical if your happy with your current rig to go that route.

I love the FT03 personally. Sure it's not as flexible as the TJ08B-E, but what it lacks in terms of space and places to mount things it makes up for in looks :D
