Hi all

I have just been given a 2600k, asus maximus gene-z and 16gb of ram. I currently run a 2500k with a gigabyte z68 mobo and 8gb of ram.

My quetion is is it worth changing over the entire system to the 2600k and mobo etc or is it worth just sticking with the current set up and move over the ram?

I should point out im running a free upgrade of windows 10...

4.3ghz on the 2500k.

When i got the 2500k 3 odd years ago i just set the multiplier to 43 and its been solid since. Not interested in going any faster.

why change mb? just keep the 2600k in the gene and use that

sell or keep the gigabyte setup or keep as a spare pc ect

if its the same z68 chipset just swap the os drive over and re activate windows

chuck the 2600k and ram in your current mobo, sell the rest of the stuff as a bundle = upgrade and profit.

Probably no point in the gene if you dont overclock much anyway.

So i changed over to the 2600K and Asus mobo and sure enough Win 10 is now non-activated. 2 minutes and a little remote assistance and I have a shinny new product key for Win 10 allowing direct install from the disk and activation.

Got to hand it to MS great support.
