2600pro fan issue

I'm running a 2600pro as a cheap temporary measure, which has been fine for the month or so i've had it. Except today its decided that its fan is going to keep starting and stopping every two seconds, so it sounds like i'm in a room with Darth Vader.

Noise isn't a problem due to a combination of tinitus and a fridge being present, so is there a way I can get the fan turned on permanantly?
 
I'm runing one in my spare PC and does the same, wondered what it was at first, had a look around and you could see it spin up and then slow down.

It does get bit annoying.

I'm certain its something that only just started now though. It definitely hasn't been doing it since I got it.
