I've been lucky enough to replace my trusty Vega 56 with a 6800. My main question is that I have a 2600x right now, is it worth upgrading the cpu or would I only see minimal gains?

I've always gamed at 1080p, but with the 6800 I'll be grabbing a 1440p monitor on black friday

Below is my spec

*2600x
*Team Group Vulcan Z T-Force 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 PC4-24000C16 3000MHz Dual
*Vega 56 (replaced today by 6800)
*Gigabyte B450M-DS3H AMD B450
*1TB 860 Samsung ssd
*650w psu

Would have thought the 2600x would be more than sufficient to game at those resolutions, would have thought gains would be quite minimal. Going for 4k on the other hand, the more CPU horsepower the better.

Guess it depends on Gigabyte and whether or not they'll be updating your BIOS to support 5000 series CPUs - if so grab a 5600x or vanilla 5600 whenever that's released in Q1

Wouldn’t bother with 5000 series CPU 1) can’t buy them 2) still quite expensive and will likely remain so 3) 1440p the difference between zen 2 and zen 3 will not be massive 4) your board may struggle with the newer CPUs

just slot in a 3600 and be done with it.
