Situation. What would be a decent boost in performance but without breaking the bank? Nvidia cards preferred. System 2500k i5 & 8 gig ram 1080p gaming. Thanks

YOUR BASKET
1 x MSI GeForce GTX 660 Black Knight 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £169.99
1 x EVGA GeForce GTX 650Ti BOOST SC 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £149.99
1 x Gigabyte ATI Radeon HD 7850 OC Windforce 2X 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £149.99
Total : £481.37 (includes shipping : £9.50).

Personal preference is the 7850, I used to have one and It is more than capable of 1080p gaming.

The 650ti is about £30 too expensive, the 7850 pretty much destroys it in gaming par the nvidia titles where the 7850 still pulls ahead. The 660 is the 7850's rival but you have to pay more for it. Guess it comes down to does the extra price warranted by having an nvidia card in your eyes.

for decent performance you need secondhand market really. GTX 580 is a capable gpu and can be had cheap now.

I'd keep my eyes peeled on the MM. Buying new wont net you much more than a GTX660 what's a decent card but you get similar for less second hand.

Recent Nvidia cards have been going for around these prices.

580 - £115
570 - £85
480 - £80
470 - £60

580 yes. But I've not seen 2nd hand at that price. He'd love one of them. AMD are fine. We, that him and me just prefer nvidia interface. We're old and don't like change .

You could always post a thread in the wanted section, asking for a 580...
The last one that sold was reference 1.5gb and went for £115, non ref £130. Second hand 7850s have been going for the same price, around the £110 mark, if you want to buy brand new and stay within budget your only real choice is a 7850 tbh.
