Can't comment on the quality of the monitor but I've had a 1440p monitor for a while now and temporarily used a 1080p monitor (both 27") and found the image quality suffered a lot at the lower resolution.

EDIT - Appreciate you use your PC for gaming so not always simple to use a higher resolution screen.

Current 24' going to the boy and I could do with something a bit bigger due to aging eyesight for work and gaming.

1080p as my setup is not that strong.

Any good?

What are your system specs?

What games do you tend to play?

At 27" I'd lean toward 1440P, you might well be fine running that res for games depending on the above.

Personally I would get a 1440p monitor for a 27inch monitor, as image quality will be better.

Resolution doesn't determine image quality. I've seen 1080 monitors with better colours, contrast etc than 1440 ones. Many of the 4k monitors don't have a great image to keep costs down.

It's not black and white so while you make valid points a higher resolution whilst at the same screen size does help determine it image quality. A higher pixel density helps with image sharpness and also offers more screen estate to enlarge certain applications too.

It all depends on what you are defining image quality and what the most important aspects are. Colour and contrast are certainly monitor dependent and to be considered.

Can't speak for the monitor in question but Full HD at 27" might not be a very enjoyable experience, even though it may be easier to view or read.

I had a Dell 2707WFP back in the day, which was a 27" monitor at 1920x1200 and whilst I enjoyed it at the time, it just wasn't anywhere close to being sharp.

If the applications that you use aren't completely annihilated by Windows scaling, I would be tempted to go for a 1440p monitor as others have suggested and fine tune the legibility from that side of things.

Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 5600
RAM: 16.0 GB
GPU: AMD 5700

I am getting a bit more causal with my gaming, though do dip in and out of multiplayer FPS like 2042.

Tbh I think you'd be alright at 1440p, you might need to turn some settings down in certain games but your overall experience will be better.

You can but it won't be as sharp as a native image as I don't think 1080 quite fits in to 1440. Unlike the CRT days you kinda need to stick to the native res so if you only really plan on gaming in 1080 then buy a 1080 screen.
