Lot depends on environment.
If you prefer dimmer illumination/darkened room, IPS takes beating from lot higher contrast/better black of VA panels.
But at the same time VA has its own challenges with viewing angles in form of "black crush" and dark shade response times (called as "black smear") being really slow compared to IPS.
So for more normal room illumination IPS is better for gaming.
Though that 27" 2560x1440 "Nano-IPS" of LG is worst of the IPS for lower light environment with its contrast from 15 years ago.
AU Optronics panel in MSI G273QF would have like 45% better contrast, though at the expense of stand lacking adjustments.
Before Christmas it was actually in below £300 discount.
