So my ROG Swift PG278Q has died, again. Exactly the same symptoms as the first time it died within a month of buying it new. Pixelated/poor quality text and flickering in the top third of the screen.

I'm in a quandary as to what to do now.

My absolute must haves are:
2560x1440
27" (Although might consider bigger if the price/specs were right)
G-SYNC or G-SYNC Compatible

I am torn between an IPS Panel or TN and whether I should look to somewhat futureproof by going for a G-SYNC Compatible FreeSync panel if I ever move away from my RTX2080.

In terms of my requirements the only panel I have found which is Freesync G-Sync Compatible is the MG278Q ROG Dominator 27".

The other models I am considering are:
  • Acer Predator XB271HU (165Hz, IPS, G-SYNC) ~£600
  • ASUS MG278Q (165Hz, TN, Freesync/G-SYNC Compatible) ~£420
  • ASUS PG279Q (165Hz, IPS, G-SYNC) ~£670
  • ASUS PG278QR (165Hz, TN, G-SYNC) ~£560...although the 278Q Freesync/G-SYNc Comaptible model apepars to be the same panel but cheaper.
I was never impressed by TN colour/vibrancy but I am unsure if the newer models have moved along in this respect compared to my PG278Q. I'm tempted to go for IPS as it represents a change/upgrade from my now dead ROG Swift panel. I would probbably try the Acer as ASUS have left a sour taste in my mouth but plenty of reports of IPS bleed etc on this model...more of an issue with the IPS technology rather than Acer though I suspect.

I note the Aorus AD27QD is a newer 1MS IPS panel at a reasonable price but is not G-SYNC Certified, many reports of it being fine around the place though. Anyone got any experience?

Thoughts? Anything I have not considered which may be a better option?

Going to to the take the risk on an IPS, at least potentially some tangible upgrade over my dead TN panel. Loathed to spend the money on a product I had 5 years ago with no real upgrade.

Was going to go for the Auros but some research online showed varying degrees of compatibility with G-SYNC.

Ended up ordering an Acer XB271HU for a decent price. If it doesn't meet expectations the Auros will be top of my list.

After a nightmare with Hermes (groan) XB271HU finally arrived and setup. Very happy with it. I cannot make out any discernible IPS Glow/Backlight bleed with my calibrated settings an no dead/lazy/stuck pixels.
