About the Monitor
The Acer Predator XB272-HDR is one impressive piece of tech. It is impressive in that it is the first 4K 144Hz monitor ever made, thus making an important statement that 4K gaming is coming faster than you might have thought: likely Q1 or Q2 2018.
It adheres to a similar design philosophy as the rest of the Predator-series monitors, although it is all-black with no red highlights. In terms of technical specifications, it is far beyond the other monitors in this series, and beyond the vast majority of other monitors in general.
Features
Display
The Predator XB272-HDR is a 27-inch LED-backlit monitor with a maximum resolution of 2160p. What truly sets it apart from other 4K monitors currently available is its 144Hz refresh rate coupled with Nvidia’s G-Sync technology. That said, it provides a much sharper, smoother and more stable gaming experience than the regular 4K monitor. Furthermore, it will likely have a refresh rate of 4ms since that is the maximum for IPS panels.
Connectivity
The exact connectivity options that the Predator XB272-HDR will be equipped with have not been revealed, but it will certainly have at least one DisplayPort 1.4 and one or two HDMI 2.0 ports. And seeing as it is a high-end monitor, it is likely that it will also have at least one USB 3.0 port for good measure.
Additional features
G-Sync – Seeing as the rest of the Predator series supports G-Sync, this one will almost certainly utilize the feature as well.
Adjustability – The Predator series are gaming monitors inside and out. As such, it is safe to assume that this high-end model will have a fully adjustable stand and will likely be wall-mountable, too.
HDR – As can be deduced from the very name of the product, it will support HDR, or High Dynamic Range. This is a display technology that relies on clever use of color and lighting to bring a dash of realism to the digital image never seen before.
27-inch 4K UHD (3840 x 2160) HDR gaming monitor supports an ultra-fast 144Hz refresh rate for super-smooth gaming visuals
NVIDIA G-SYNC HDR delivers vivid realism with HDR for lifelike contrast & color, with the brightest whites & darkest blacks, that brings out details like never before.
Quantum-dot IPS display with a wide DCI-P3 color gamut for realistic colors and smoother gradation
Not comparable to a nice fast 144hz gaming screen (I've used a B7V for a PC monitor)., Fantastic paired with a living room PC or XboxOneX but not for proper gaming.
