Hey guys,

thinking of getting a 15" macbook pro for my long train journeys, but worry abot screen size when home, just woundering if any here has a 27" Cinema Display? whats the display like? does the macbook pro have the power to run a screen that size?

Yeah it works great and is pretty much designed with macbooks in mind. It charges the laptop as well as being used as a display and you can all the features of the display by connecting the usb

Everything to do with it is gorgeous really, just like the imac screens, it is glossy glass though so bare that in mind if you aren't the biggest fan (I love it)

I have one hooked up to a 2009 mac mini. Which more than has the horse power for it. The mbp will be fine.

It's the best display out there by a country mile. As long as you aren't a glossy display hater.

Yeah they certainly are gorgeous displays.

They are due an update soon too with FacetimeHD and Thunderbolt. Who knows maybe Retina /drool

Retina? :p The resolution is already above 'HD'

But if you have the funds you will not find a more gorgeous screen!

I use a 13" MBP at home and would love to get a monitor for it, I don't want a non-mac monitor as that would be silly, but then I also don't want to pay through the roof so that kinda rules out the cinema display :(

If I was to go back to PC's in the future can the cinema display be used with them?

So long as your graphics card has mini display port.

I was thinking of getting a nice display. does it have hdmi inputs?

No, just DisplayPort.

Been pretty disappointed with Apple's displays. Had a 30" until recently and the display was prone to feedback through the DP connection. Although not as good-looking as the Apple displays, I genuinely don't think you can beat Dell for quality and versatility when it comes to their displays.

That's a shame I'd have liked to have plugged my PS3 and MBP into one.

I'm sure there are convertors you can get to do that but it becomes a bit messy. If I was you, I would look at the Dell U2711. Two DVI ports, one HDMI, one DisplayPort, VGA, Component and Composite.

It's not as aesthetically pleasing at the Apple display but it has much more about it.

Mmmm! :D

Fortunately I could get educational discount because of work but 750 bones is still quite steep yeah.
