Unless you really dislike black bars with some games (personally never played one that didn't support 16:10) or while watching movies 16:10 there really isn't much of a reason not to like it. It's simply more workspace.
With movies you're going to end up with black bars anyway. Old tv shows and what not are shot in 4:3 (So you'd actually see less useless black on a 16:10 monitor compared to 16:9. If you watch cinema movies which are 21:9 you're pretty much screwed either way).
