Hi,

I want to connect my laptop (specs below) to a "gaming monitor" and use the monitor as my primary screen. I also want this monitor to be able to run my PS4 with as little lag as possible. I also play low demanding online games. My laptop has an IPS screen which is lovely to look at.

I have looked at lots of different monitors online and keep getting lost. I think I may be looking at too high specs of monitors. As my laptop is IPS I don't really want to lose image quality when using my monitor as a primary screen and I also don't want a laggy monitor for PS4 and low demand online games.

My budget is around the £400 mark.

The ones I have looked at recently are:

BenQ XL2720Z
BenQ XL2730Z
Dell Ultrasharp U2715H

Many thanks in advance,
Ruthers.

So the laptop is 1920x1080p IPS and looks fantastic.

Will a 27" 1920x1080p monitor look poor?

I keep reading things about the picture quality lacking with the 1920x1080p resolution on a 27" monitor.

If I got a monitor specifically to use with my laptop could I get a 4k monitor and keep my laptop at 1920x1080p and the monitor at 3140x2860 with no detrimental effect to either?

My graphics card is capable of a "maximum digital resolution of 5120x3200.
