Hi Guys

I've decided to upgrade my GTX580 sli combo to twin 980's and I want a monitor which will really do them justice.

I'm going to keep my existing Dell U2711, (which I really like), and use it as a second monitor but I'm confused about which will be best for gaming.

Should I be looking at 60hz 4K or g-sync or 144hz?

It's a little bewildering.

Would appreciate a heads up.

I'd get the 2560x1440 144hz option.

4k isn't really ready imo, and even two 980s will choke in many games, especially with the 256bit bus.

In some games I don't get much over 70-80 with my SLi 980s, so that would be more like 35-40 at 4k, which to me is too low.

Especially if you play new releases, there are times you will be playing without an SLI profile on a single card. At 1440p144, that's fine and you will still get 50-60fps. At 2160p60, you will get a 25-30fps unplayable mess.

Take Wolfenstein the new order. My 2nd card does nothing there.

When I first played Ryse, there was no SLi profile and maxxed out I was 50-55fps.

And so on :)

Thanks rtho782, appreciate the response.

Tempted by the RoG Swift in your sig but discouraged by the negative comments in the forum here and on the Asus site.

Not sure though as my current Dell is 27" and 1440p.

In the words of a certain savoury snack manufacturers 80's TV ad might wait to see if OC are "no be having a sale" during Black Friday.

IMO if you getting sli 980's and a new monitor then that new monitor has to have g sync, the tech is amazing.

Few options on the site depending how much you want to spend.
Remember that g sync will allow you to play @ 4k, as its design to run well at a lower frame rate and 980s should play most games quite well @ 4k i would guess..
