Looking for a new monitor, 27" as can't fit anything bigger on my desk.

Budget around £700 (ish).

Will be used for browsing, videos/film and gaming.

The big question is, LED 4k or 1440p OLED, which would be better?

Secondary question, should I use Display Port or HDMI?

Thanks for your help.

4K or 1440p at that screen size is very much personal preference in my opinion rather than one being better than the other as such and likewise OLED isn't for everyone. These days not a huge difference between HDMI and DP for a lot of uses - you might find adaptive sync/G-Sync has some specific requirements on some displays/GPU combinations which mean you need to use one or the other and HDMI sometimes can be some minor faff to make sure it is using full range RGB on PC rather than limited range.

For gaming 4K will take quite a bit of GPU power at native res so depending on the rest of your PC spec may be a factor.

Thanks for the reply.

I will hopefully be getting a system with a Ryzen 7 9800X3D, 32Gb RAM and Radeon RX9070XT (when an inheritance comes through).

Picked up a Samsung Odyssey OLED G6 few weeks ago for £485. Excellent panel, can recommend if you decide to go for 1440p.

| OLED |

For that price you can actually get up to a 480hz 27" 1440p OLED now.

So you have a crazy amount of 1440p OLED options from 240-480hz

Hence you want to watch films on it, get a display with Dolby Vision perhaps.

I was in the same situation, only a few months ago on wether to go 4K or 1440 OLED. In the end I went 1440 OLED and have been very happy with my choice and would pick the same again, if I had to make the choice again.

Was direct from Samsung. They had an offer on at the time. Then i had a further discount from work which dropped it to under £500. its back up to £699 now :(

Great monitor but for me it's defiantly not worth its full price.

Ahh ok, yeah I'm keeping an eye as I want 2 but not going to pay £620 for them.
