Hi there, at the moment, I have my Xbox 360 and PS3 connected to a 120HZ 3D Samsung 1080p 23" panel (Ergo, surplus to the requirements, it's wasted) as I switched from the 3D monitor to a 29" 21:9 for my PC gaming.

I was looking into getting a new 27" IPS monitor for my console gaming.

This will also be used for media streaming too via the PS3 (Because WMC, sucks balls, why I paid for it in W8, I'll never know)

I use some 2.0 stereo system for sound ; XPS 2.0 30 DJ.

The area's quite cramped tbh, I can fit the 27" in, but that's about it for space as it's in a corner in my room.

I was looking at ; http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MO-048-AS&groupid=17&catid=1120 (I have the 2560x1080 version for PC)

Anyone got any suggestions? Price limit is about 300.

Secondly (Though not as important at the moment) was speakers, maybe I could wall mount the monitor, get some speakers underneath?

I had considered these ; http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=SP-016-ER&groupid=702&catid=22 (Though they look fugly)

But unsure really, the XPS's do a fine job at the moment. There's no space really for a 2.1, so it'd have to be 2.0

Would you not be better getting a 32" tv ? You can get some with fairly minimal bezels now so would not take up as much room as some 27" monitors.

I have a Samsung UE32F5000 which is not massively bigger than my 27" Pc monitor.

Word of warning and this is coming from personal experience. I have a 27" 1080P monitor and the PS3/XBox 360 looked like utter **** on it through HDMI. It basically looks like you're playing at 720x480 resolution, it's not too bad once you sit back though. I'd personally try and get a small telly instead of a monitor, monitors really bring out the bad graphics of consoles.

Well at the moment I have a 23", and it looks okay from a distance, looks dire up close, but that'll be the case when playing close with console.

I'm going to pop to a brick and mortar store after work, have a look at 27" monitors, and perhaps look at HDTV's if I can see a 32" that I think will fit (I mean it'll be VERY tight, so I'm not convinced it'll fit)

Not much point getting a 720p Panel, I mean my Sammy is 23.5" 1080p, and it's still a stunning panel, it's just under utilized with consoles, but I wouldn't want to sell it to replace it with an inferior panel in every aspect :p

I ended up just buying myself some 27" IPS AOC for 199.99.
Not a bad monitor I guess, as it doesn't get massive use, I deffo see where Mr Marvelous was coming from.

Although for whatever reason (And I've only tested it with the 360 so far) when I have the composite lead plugged into the 360 (To use my speakers, like I always have) while the 360's plugged into the AOC via HDMI, there's no display. It'll just keep boot looping (You can hear the Xbox start up noise through the speakers, then nothing, then repeat)

The AOC has inbuilt speakers, but still, anyone got any suggestions? I rang up the purple shirts, they said try and disable them, if that's a bust then return it.

Cheers.

UE32H5000, £300 from most places. I had the same dilemma as you last week, and am glad I bought the TV as picture quality is excellent!

Could be problems with the Hdmi handshake on the 360, sounds like the unit is buggered tho..

I forgot to mention that it works when I unplug the composite lead from the Xbox 360 (Except the monitors using its own speakers, which suck), so it's not fit for my use.

Is there an audio out jack plug on the monitor you could use. My AOC has a 3.5mm that outputs the sound from the HDMi or Display port inputs.

Yeah, it does.
But I've had varying experiences when I've done that before in the past with the sound quality being a rather noticeable downgrade?

I only got a few minutes with it last night, I'll be home after work to have a play.

I set my PS3 up with one of my LED IPS screens, and it made GTA V look like a PS2 game. Is the OP doing something different? Why would you want to use a PC monitor, it makes games look terrible because of the non native res ps3 and 360 use to run games.

PS4 and Wii U are fine because they output at 1080p when playing games. I'm unsure about Xbone because i don't have one. :P

I recently bought ue32h5000, I'm currently using as monitor/ps4 looks absolutely amazing and it's really cheap, for premium quality picture. Highly recommended buying it.
